This is Ryan and Drew Walsh writing on behalf of our friends Khrys and KD, who need your prayers, love, and support as they welcome their secondborn child, Rhodes James Ramirez, into this world.
Rhodes was born on November 17th. Hours away from being discharged, the nurses found some abnormalities with Rhodes’s oxygen levels. After days of unknowns, several failed treatments, and tremendous heartache, baby Rhodes was diagnosed with what doctors were able to identify as a congenital heart defect called Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return (TAPVR). Just 6 days after birth, Rhodes underwent open heart surgery to repair the abnormalities in his heart and is expected to have a recovery time of at least one month.
As you can imagine, this is something that no parent could ever plan for, and in return, it has taken a significant toll on the Ramirez Family. Born with a congenital heart defect and having had open heart surgery myself, I have experienced firsthand the repercussions going through something like this can have on a family.
